Pete’s Pals is a 2 hour long program on Tuesday evenings at Faith Community Center in Lafayette.
The program lasts for seven weeks from February to April. Children with disabilities aged 4-18 are partnered with a Purdue student to work on aquatic and physical activity skills. The activities are based off of lesson plans that the program directors design and are individualized based off of goals the parents chose.
The Purdue students are paired with a pal based on their experiences with teaching and with children with disabilities. Students from all majors are welcome, but most of them are education, pre PT/OT, health, or speech therapy. They are required to complete an online sexual abuse awareness course and a training course at Faith before the start of the program.
Thank you for forwarding this to any families or Purdue students who may be interested. This is truly a great program for kids in our community.
