Executive Director Update
Happy New Year 2012!! I hope you are all ready for a great 2012 filled with fun events and opportunities with The Arc.
We are starting the year off with a Purdue Women's Basketball Game on January 15th at 2:00. The Boilers will be playing Iowa. This will be a
big event for The Arc because we will have our Adult Recreation and both Super Star Social Clubs at the game. It will be lots of fun for
everyone. Boiler Up!!!
The Arc had a float in the Lafayette Christmas Parade in December. We had over 20 riders representing all of our social groups plus a
puppet from Kid's First. It was a rainy day but thanks to our good friends at City Bus we were warm and dry on the Trolley. Special
thanks to City Bus, Katy Dietrich, Dave Meadows, Cindy Roberts, Beth Krogmann, and Kathy Trinkle for decorating the Trolley.
On December 14, The Arc attended an awards ceremony at The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette to accept a certificate congratulating
us on our grant of $740.00 from the foundation for office equipment. We would like to thank The Community Foundation for this grant that
enabled us to purchase much needed office equipment to provide better services to our consumers.
Aktion Club had its annual Holiday party on December 15th. Shelia Klinker and the Kiwanis Club were there to lead the caroling. They
supplied instruments for all our Aktion Club members. Be sure to check out the video from this event on The Arc of Tippecanoe County's
Facebook page. We had some excellent cookies decorated by the boys from Cary Home. The cookies were great and showed the time and effort
these special boys put into making them. Aktion club is a Kiwanis Club for adults with disabilities and provides opportunities to
participate in community service project and gain leadership skills. If you are interested in joining Aktion Club talk with
Mark Schwieterman, Club President, or give me a call at The Arc. We are always looking for more members for this great Club.
The Arc is pleased to announce a partnership with Beta Sigma Phi sorority for 2012. Members of the sorority will hold fundraisers for
The Arc plus volunteer at our events during the year. They will also host carry in events to collect items such as snacks for Camp
SPARKS, art supplies and office supplies that we need over the year. We are pleased to be their 2012 Community Partner.
Thank you for supporting The Arc of Tippecanoe County in 2011.
