Adult Recreation is currently our largest program serving adults with developmental disabilities. Each month this program offers one or two community activities in which adults can practice the independent living skills they may be working on at work, supported employment, or at home. This activities include dances, Purdue sporting events, picnics, bowling, Bingo, field trips to the zoo, nature preserves or Indiana Beach and other fun recreational and social activities. Adults practice their social skills such as introducing themselves to others, making friends and having conversations, managing behaviors, learning manners and also independent living skills such as navigating the CityBus, getting along with others while carpooling, making reservations for events, paying for events, buying snacks, dressing for the weather, finding restrooms, and making needs known to others.
